1 < Building Blind Date Report 2 > 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jan Schippers & Rudolf van de Brug building a Visionarry named Blind Date. Rudolf writes Hello, After turning the hull right side up the outside was sanded using belt sanders with 80 grit belt. Next the hull was leveled and secured, then all molds put back in and on one side bridgedeck molds attached. The allready made foam decks and side were temporarily fastened and then the curved part between bunkdeck and side was planked like the hull. For glassing the inside we took it off the molds and decided the other deck will be built on the floor entirely. Inside hull join was taped and main bulkheads cut using the fullsize plots. Sole web was cut from the offsets and cut full of 80mm holes as we will pour PU foam under the sole between the bulkheads (**note from Rob: 'I do not like pu foam. Slabs of polystyrene are a better bet, and lighter. Polyurethane absorbs water so needs to be able to drain in the event it gets wet. I would certainly not recommend it for below the sole use. However, if you keep an eye on it, it should not be a problem.'). For the same reason holes were cut in the 10mm sole, which was glued onto the web and strips of ply that all ready were glued across, to make sure the sole would land level. Sole was filleted and taped. Last job untill now was glueing the bow bulkheads to the hull. A piece of oversized 10mm ply was propped to the hull ends, the hull sides pushed into place and secured by pieces of scrap ply screwed to the 10mm ply. When things seemed to fit and shaped as good as possible bulkheads were glued in place and filleted. Best wishes for the new year! Regards, Rudolf. 1 < Building Blind Date Report 2 > 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
