Week 5: Monday 30th Dec - Friday 3rd Jan 2003 (excluding New Years Day)

This week saw us plank and glass both the leeward hull deck shells. We again replaced the temporary frames to hold the shape after glassing the inside.

The bunk bases (which cantilever out from the ww hull) were cut from offsets provided in the plans. These offsets save a lot of time and is very accurate. The two panels were then glassed both sides.

At last all the hull shells are complete so on Friday afternoon we started the process of putting them together. We replaced some of the temporary frames in the ww hull and then placed the inboard hull shell in place. Happily the keel join was a good fit and only required some small scraps of timber screwed across the join for a close alignment. We taped in between the alignment strips which will be removed for sanding and a wide tape applied on Monday.

We hope you are enjoying a happy new year.
